Miki hardly has time to swallow this news before her parents thrust her into a dinner engagement with the other couple.  How could her parents be so selfish?   How could the forget their love for each other so easily?  Her mind races with such questions, but is halted when a handsome boy approaches the table.  The other couple has a son her age!   Certainly Yuu would be a kindred spirit and share her feelings.  Although Yuu does not feel the same way about the situation, Miki is attracted to his teasing demeanor and kind smile.  Soon both families are moving into the same house and Miki must find a way to hide this embarrassing information from her school.

     Just as she is falling in love with Yuu, Miki is confronted by her best friend Ginta who spurned her affections 2 years before.  He too loves Miki and will not tolerate any relationship with Yuu.  To make matters worse, Yuu's old girlfriend, Arimi, arrives on the scene to stir up more trouble in the fragile relationship.

     Marmalade Boy is an addicting series that traces the Miki's everyday life, and her attempt to discover which boy she truly loves.

     Koshikawa Miki is a typical high school girl who loves playing tennis and enjoys the company of her many friends.  Her life is almost perfect being the only child of two adoring parents.   She reaps the love and understanding of both her mother and father, and counts herself lucky to be born into such a stable household.  This fairytale world is soon shattered when her parents return from a Hawaiian vacation.  While away, they've disceovered that their love is no longer one of marriage, but of siblings.  As if such a blow isn't enough, they have met another couple and have decided to swap spouses.
