Marmalade Boy Episode 18: The Direction of Yuu-kun's Love: "Things Aren't Going As Planned." Miki thinks about Meiko at the train platform, and realizes that she doesn't know how to cheer her up. [Title] The day when Meiko would be back at school soon arrives, and Miki frets. Yuu tells her to be as usual--that her silliness would cheer anyone up. They leave for school, and when Miki sees Meiko, she is hesitant until Yuu literally shoves her towards Meiko. The two bump into each other, and it's as though nothing had happened. Everyone at school is happy to see Meiko, who insists that she is all right. After school, Miki reveals a calculator that can tell love fortunes. The distant Meiko does not get hers done, and heads for the library. Miki realizes that Meiko is still hurting. [Song: Saigo no Yakusoku] Miwa sees Meiko crying at the window. He decides not to talk to her. Meanwhile, at tennis practice, Ryouko thinks of Namura playing tennis. After tennis practice, Ginta suggests that he, Meiko, and Miki go to Kariyon Farm that Sunday to cheer up Meiko. Miki invites Yuu at his workplace, and Arimi overhears, forcing Miki to invite her as well. Meiko accepts the invitation. [Eyecatch] Miki makes a gigantic lunch, and she and Yuu head for Kariyon Farm. They all eat lunch, with Arimi catering to Yuu. When Miki brings out her food, Yuu teases her as usual, with Arimi watching carefully. After lunch, they all head down to the rowboats--Yuu and Arimi in one, and Miki, Meiko, and Ginta in another. Meiko thinks of when Namura rowed her in a rowboat when they were dating. The group spends the rest of the day in the gardens, riding horse carts, biking, and riding on a small train ride. They watch horses in the paddock, and Miki remarks that it reminded her of their trip to Hokkaido. Meiko remembers her encounter with Namura on the rooftop one night on that trip. Arimi remarks that she is thirsty, and Yuu offers to get her a drink. Ginta tags along, and the other girls ask for drinks as well. A gust of wind blows Meiko's hat into the paddock, and Miki takes off to get it. When she tries to touch the young foal, the mother horse charges. Yuu and Ginta sprint towards the paddock from the juice machine, and Miki trips while she is running. Yuu jumps over her and grabs onto the horse's neck, calming it down, while Ginta checks on Miki. Yuu grabs her and chides her for her actions. She begins to cry and enters his arms, apologizing. Arimi lowers her head in defeat. Meiko picks up her hat, and remarks, "Loving someone isn't easy" before solemnly walking out of the paddock.
